West Virginia University Extension Service 4-H Program will be providing the opportunity for youth to take the ASI ATV RiderCourse. It takes about four hours to complete and involves actual “on the track” experience in learning to ride an ATV. Each class is limited to 6 or 8 riders. This is a FREE training! While online you will notice that taking this course usually requires paying a $150 fee and bringing your own ATV. You will not have to do either of those. WVU Extension Cabell County has a mobile unit with ATVs for those 14 and older.
You may utilize your own ATV if it fits the size guidelines set by CPSC and approved by course instructors the day of the training: Ride an ATV that’s right for your age. The CPSC age/size guidelines are:
Age 6 to 11 up to 70cc
Age 12 to 16, 90cc or less
Ages 14 and up may be able to utilize our transitional sized ATVs (200cc sized units)
Age 16 and older 90cc and up
We have a supply of helmets, goggles and gloves that you may be able to utilize for this event. You bring long-sleeved shirt, long pants and over-the-ankle boots to take the course. You may use your own helmet, goggles and gloves if you prefer.
Dates for ATV training in Cabell County with our mobile unit are continually added and can be scheduled at various times and locations. Please contact Rich Sherman at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 304-743-7131 to schedule a time to take the class. The course can be held at various locations. If you have a group that is interested in having the training at a specific location please contact Rich Sherman.
